भावार्थ: प्रस्तुत कविता 'द लैण्ड ऑफ स्टोरी-बुक्स' के कवि
स्कॉटिश कवि और उपन्यासकार और यात्रा वृत्तांत लेखक रॉबर्ट लुइस बाफर
स्टीवेन्स हैं। प्रस्तुत कविता ने कवि ने बाल मन को उकेरा है।
      कवि जब बालक था तो देखा करता-शाम होते लैम्प जल जाते, आग
के चारों ओर बैठ उसके माता-पिता बस आग सेंकते। वे घर में रहते, बातें
करते और गाना गाते थे। लेकिन कुछ खेल नहीं खेलते थे।
      बालकों को तो खेल चाहिए पर कोई खेलने वाला भी तो होना चाहिए ।
पर अकेला बालक कहाँ-कहाँ जाए किनको खेल-सखा बनाए ।
           बस उस बालक ने कहानियों की किताबों को ही अपना साथी बना
लिया। और फिर क्या था, कहानियों की किताबों की रोचक, रूमानी दुनिया
में डूब गया वह बालक ।
      कहानियों को पढ़ते अपनी कल्पना में कभी पार्क पहुँच जाता, कभी
जंगल में, कभी तारों के संग बातें, अकेले में समय बिताता, कभी नदी के
किनारे, कभी समुद्र के तट पर चला जाता है। अपनी कल्पना में थक जाता
तो बिस्तर पर सो जाता। पास में होती कहानी की किताबें ।
