कविता का हिन्दी अनुवाद
भावार्थ―प्रस्तुत कविता ब्रिटिश मूल के भारतीय लेखक रस्किन बॉन्ड
द्वारा लिखी गयी है। इस कविता में कवि का महान क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी सचिन
के खेल का आर्कषण स्पष्ट दिखता है।
कविता की शुरूआत में कवि क्रिकेट के मैदान का सुंदर समाँ बाँधते
है-मैदान सभा से भरा है। कानों को बहरा कर देने वाला शोर फैल जाता
है। एक युवा खिलाड़ी-बैट्समैन आऊट हो गया- वह सचिन है- उसके
हाय में बल्ला है। वह अपने कन्धे झटकाता है और मैदान के चारों ओर एक
नजर फेरता है और नम्रता य शान्ति से मैदान से याहर जाने को चल देता है।
कवि सचिन की तारीफ में आगे कहता है कि वह आउट होकर न
चिढ़ता है, न सामने किसी फील्डर को कोई अपमान भरे शब्द कहता है।
बल्कि शालीनता, गम्भीरता से आऊट होने पर वह स्वयं फील्ड छोड़ चल
देता है। यह सम्जनता ही उसे महान खिलाड़ी बनाती है। साथ ही कवि ने
सचिन के उम्दा शॉट्स की तारीफ में लिखा है कि इतना उम्दा खेल अचानक
नहीं सीखता कोई। इसके लिए पूरे ध्यान से लंबा अभ्यास करना पड़ता है– जो
सचिन ने किया है–तभी तो वह महान है।

pitch = उत्तेजना का दौर । Hitch = झटके से हटना/हटाना । Look

पहुँच जाय।
Drive to cover = एक प्रकार का क्रिकेट शॉट | Hush = शान्ति,
चुप्पी । Fret = उद्विन करना, चिढ़ाना | Focused = ध्यानमग्न । Bowler
= गेंदबाज | Humble = विनीत, नम्र । Proud = गर्व घमंड | Grace =
सुन्दरता, आकर्षण | Secret = रहस्य ।
