एक हिस्से में रहने वाली एक छोटी लड़की की इच्छाओं का वर्णन है

जीवन मेरे लिए और चमक रहा है ! मेरे अन्दर मैं अनुभव करती हूँ,
तारे और गाती घंटियाँ । संसार में बच्चे हैं मेरे आस-पास और मुझसे अति
दूर....यहाँ और समुद्र पार वहाँ और मेरे लिए अजनवी देश में, लेकिन उन
लोगों से अजनवी नहीं हैं―

मैं चाहती हूँ कि बच्चे जिये और हँसे, मैं चाहती हूँ कि वे अपने
माँ-बाप के साथ बैठे और साथ-साथ सुखद क्षणों को ग्रहण करें। मैं नहीं
चाहती आसमान को छूती आग की लपटें, मैं नहीं चाहती उनके दरवाजे
पर परिवारों का खून हो।

जीवन हमारे लिए. बच्चों के लिए है, जीवन माताओं और पिताओं
के लिए है, जीवन लम्बी लड़कियों और लम्बे लड़कों के लिए है,
हेण्डरसन स्ट्रीट पर हाई स्कूल में, अफ्रीकी शिविरों में लोगों के लिए जीवन
है, इंगलिश कैथेड्रल में लोगों, भारतीय आगनों में लोगों, सारे संसार में
झोपड़ियों में लोगों के लिए जीवन है।

kind she would not have placed the ant under the thimble and
the ant has to face the trouble.
