भावार्थ―प्रस्तुत कविता 'बी अ फ्रेन्ड' के कवि है एडगर ए, गेस्ट इस
कविता में कवि बच्चों से दोस्त बनने, बनाने और दोस्ती को निभाने का भाव
व्यक्त कर रहा है।
एक दोस्त बनो। इसके लिए तुम्हें पैसे की जरूरत नहीं, बस अच्छे स्वभाव
की जरूरत है। हमें किसी भी प्रकार से दूसरों की मदद करने की इच्छा होनी
चाहिए। जिनके कोई दोस्त नहीं हैं उनकी तरफ दोस्ती का हाथ बढ़ाओ, बस
कुछ देने की इच्छा, तुम्हें किसी का दोस्त बना देगी।

एक दोस्त बनो। तुम्हें सम्मान की जरूरत नहीं। दोस्ती एक साधारण
कहानी की तरह होती है। तुम औरों की छोटी गलतियों को भुलाकर दूसरों
के सच्चे प्रयल को निहारो, गौर से देखो।
अपने से छोटों का हौसला बढ़ाओ, उस बच्चे पर दया दिखाओ जो दुखी
हैं बस एक दोस्त का कर्तव्य निभाओ।

एक दोस्त बनो। इसके फायदे बड़े हैं (पैसे में नहीं) जो कि चतुर लोगों
द्वारा कमाए जाते हैं, स्वयं के प्रयास से। कवि आखिरी पंक्तियों में कहता है
कि यदि तुम ऊपर लिखी बातों को अमल में लाओगे तो पड़ोसियों से अधि
क तुम्हारे पास दोस्त होंगे। तुम एक राजकुमार से भी अधिक अमीर बन
जाओगे यदि तुममें एक सच्चा दोस्त बनने की खूबी है, क्षमता है, तो।

(अनबिफ्रेन्डेड) = बिना दोस्ता। Trifling (ट्रिफलिंग) = बहुत छोटा। Sighing
(साईग) = गहरी सांस लेना। Self-endeavour (सेल्फ इनडीवर) = अपना
प्रयास। Glory (ग्लोरी) = सम्मान। Kindly (काइन्डली) = दयालु, कृपया।
Extend (एक्सटेन्ड) = विस्तार। Errors (एरर्स) = भूलें। Gaze (गेज) =
निहारना, अपलक देखना। Instead (इन्सटेड) = के बदले। Profit (प्रॉफिट)
= लाभ। Prince (प्रिन्स) = राजकुमार।

For the profit of your labour
You will be richer in the end
Then a prince, if you're a friend."

Ans. In the second stanza, the poet says that friendship
