बच्चों के लिए लेख व कविताएँ लिखने हेतु प्रसिद्ध हैं। प्रस्तुत बाल कविता
भी बच्चों के आनन्द के लिए लिखी गयी है।
मैंने अपने सपने में एक नयो दुनिया देखी जहाँ सभी लोग एक जैसे दिखते थे।
कोई बच्चा न था, न कोई माँ
कोई परिवर्तन न होता था, किसी भी प्रकार नहीं,
कोई न रोता था, न कोई हंसता था,
कोई न थकता था, न कोई सोता था।

मैंने चाहा कि घड़ी के घंटे की आवाज सुनूँ
उस दुनिया में जहाँ सभी लोग एक जैसे ही थे,
मैं परिवर्तन के लिए बेहद उत्सुक। जिज्ञासु था
कैसा भी परिवर्तन हो - चलेगा,
मैं रोने की आवाज, या हँसने की आवाज
सुनना चाहता था,
अंत में घड़ी के घंटे की आवाज सुनी,
और अपने छोटे कमरे में
अपनी नींद से जाग गया।

एक मुस्कान के साथ मेरी माँ पास में खड़ी थी,
और मैंने बच्चे के रोने की आवाज सुनी।
और मैं सोचने लगा - कितना अच्छा है।
इस दुनिया में मेरा जीना।
जहाँ चीजें घटित हो सकती हैं और घड़ी बज सकती है,
और कोई भी आदमी दूसरे के
ठीक जैसा ही हू-ब-हू नहीं है।
WORD MEANING
Folks (फोक्स) = लोग। Weary (वीयरी) = थका हुआ। Nigh
(नाई) = नजदीक, पास में। Boom (बूम) = विस्फोट की आवाज। Alike
(अलाइक) = सदृश, एक समान/जैसा। World (वर्ल्ड) = दुनिया। Dream
(ड्रीम) = सपना। Wept (वेप्ट) = रोया। Slept (स्लेप्ट) = सोया। Longed
(लौंग्ड) = चाहा। Strike (स्ट्राइक) = बजाना। Change (चेन्ज) = परिवर्तन।
Laughter (लाफ्टर) = हसी। Nice (नाइस) = अच्छा।
