पाठ पढ़ने के पूर्व― क्या आपने फसल लगे खेत को देखा है ? भारत
में हम किस मौसम में अनाज उपजाते हैं ? यह कविता देहाती क्षेत्र का
चित्रण करती है। कवयित्री अनाज के खेत में है और ऊपर गाते हुए
स्काइलार्क को सुनती है। वह कुछ काल के लिए ठहर जाती है और
प्रकृति के सुन्दर दृश्य का आनन्द लेती है। पढ़िये कि कवयित्री प्रकृति के
सौन्दर्य का वर्णन किए प्रकार करती है ?

एक दिन सुबह का समय था, खिली धूप थी, धरती हरी और
आसमान नीला था– दोनों के बीच लटके एक स्काइलार्क ने गाते हुए
अनाज के ऊपर धब्बा लगाया ।

थोड़ा नीचे सुखद मिलन के तह में श्वेत तितलियाँ अपने पंखों पर
नाचती थीं। गाता हुआ स्काइलार्क नीचे आता था और पुनः ऊपर उड़
जाता था।

अनाज का खेत एक कोमल हरी अंगड़ाई ले रहा था, मेरे जाने के
मार्ग के दाँयें और बाँयें, मैं जानती थी कि लाखों अनाज की डंठलों के बीच
कहीं उसका अज्ञात घोंसला है।

और ज्योंही मैं उसके संगीत को सुनने के लिए रूकी, खिली धूप के
क्षण तेजी से निकल गये, शायद उसकी प्रेमिका उसे सुनने के लिए बैठी
रही और मुझसे ज्यादा उसके संगीत का आनन्द लिया ।
कवि को जाने― क्रिस्टिना जार्जिना रॉसेट्टी (1830-1894) एक अंग्रेज
कवयित्री है जिसने 12 वर्ष की आयु में ही लिखना प्रारम्भ कर दिया था।
उन्होंने प्रकृति एंव जीवन पर सुन्दर कविताएँ लिखीं।
Words meaning
Skylark (स्काइलार्क)– यूरोप, ऐशिया एवं दक्षिण अफ्रीका के
पहाड़ों में पाया जाने वाला छोटा पक्षी । Gay (गे)– खुश, सुखद ।
Accord (एकॉर्ड)- समझौता/मिलन । Soared (सॉअर्ड)– ऊपर उड़ा ।
Sank (सेंक)– नीचे गया । Tender (टेंडर)– कोमल, मासूम | Stalks
(स्याक्स)–डंठल । Swift (स्वीफ्ट)– तेज । Slid (स्लिड)– दूर चला गया।
