                Long Type Questions and Answer

Q.1. Why did Lencho write a letter to God? FHow did he
send the letter ?              [JAC 2009(A); 2010(A); 2018 (A); 2019 (A)]
Ans. Lencho's fields were totally destroyed by the hailstorm.
He thought that he and his family would not survive. So he decided
to write to God about his problem. In it, he wrote Him to send him
one hundred pesos immediately.
The lettcr reached the postmaster. He read it out with
curiosity. He was a kind man and decided to help Lencho. He
collected seventy pesos with great effort. This he put in an envelope
and signed 'God' on the letter. Lencho got this letter.
However, Lencho, instead of being grateful, was angry. He
immediately wrote another letter to God. In it, he complained
against the post office employees. He had, after all. a very firm
faith in God. He was sure that the part of money had been stolen by
the post office staff.

Q.2. Why did the postmaster need to answer the letter?
How did he collect it?
Ans. The postmaster was a kind and amiable man. He
wondered at the faith of Lencho in God. He did not wish to shake
it. Instead, he wished he had such a faith in Him. He opened up the
letter. He came up with the idea of answering the letter. But he
needed something more than goodwill.Lencho had requested God
to send him money. The postmaster decided to send this moncy to
him. So he asked for money from his employees. He himself gave
a part of his salary. Several friends of him also gave something for
this act of charity. It was impossible for him to collect together the
hundred pesos. So he was able to collect only seventy pesos. It
was sent to Lencho.

Q.3.How did Lencho react to the belp?
Ans. Lencho came to the post office a bit earlier than usual.
He asked if there was a letter for him. The postman gave a letter to
him. The postmastér had the satisfaction of a man who has done a
good deed. Lencho showed not the slightest surprise on sceing
the money. Such was his confidence in God! But he became angry
when he counted the money. God could not have made a mistake.
He also could not have denied what he had requested. Such was
Lencho's faith in Him. He at once wrote another letter to God. He
wrote to God to send the remaining money not through the mail. It
was because all the post office employees were a bunch of crooks.

Q. 4. How do you think the postmaster felt when he received
Lencho's second letter? What do you think he did?
Ans. I think the postmaster had never expected such a reply
from Lencho. When he had received such a letter from Lencho, hec
could have laughed much. He would have been more glad to see
Lencho's great faith in God. The postmaster would have wondered
at the simplicity of Lencho. He would have felt happy to see Lencho
as a great worshipper of God. He was a kind-hearted and amiable
fellow. He also had a great wish to have such faith in God like
Lencho. So seeing the letter, the postmaster would have asked his
friends to contribute to thirty pesos. He would have collected the
maining money. He would sent it to ILencho to keep his faith in
God intact.

Q. 5.The postmaster helped Lencho but received abuses in
return.. Where had the postmaster gone wrong? What would
you do in The place? Write your answer in about 80 words.
Ans. The postmaster was only too good. There are people
Who help others. However, they want the person wnom tney help,
to feel obliged. But, the postmaster would not even give his name
However, the postmaster was wrong on one count. He did
not send the full money. But he tried his maximum to collect it. I
think that if he had sent in the full money, he could have escaped
being called a crook. So, perhaps, he was rightly punished for this.
If I had been in place of the postmaster, I would have called
Lencho to me. I would have tried to bring home the point that God
help those who help themselves. I would have, perhaps. given
him some financial belp, in the form of loan.

Q. 6. "But don't send it to me through the mail, because the
post office employees are a bunch of crooks". Why did Lencho
say so? What is your impression of the postoffice employees?
Ans. Lencho spoke those words in his ignorance. He never
knew that man can be as kind as God. He had appealed to God.
When he got money, he thought it was from God. However, the
amount was less than he had appealed for. After all, God can be
neither poor nor miserly. So, Lencho believed that the post office
employees had stolen a part of his money. Hence, he called them
a 'bunch of crooks'.
In my opinion post office employees were only too good.
They had not only helped Lencho, they were ready to give its
credit to God. It is an irony of fate that their kind actions were
returned with abuse.

Q.7. What made Lencho write a letter to God? What was
its result?                                                      [JAC 2017 (A)]
Ans. Lencho's crop needed rain badly. But there came
hailstorm. It destroyed his crop totally. Not a leaf was left on the
trees. He had no com left either for food or for seeds. But Lencho
had one hope. It was the help from God. So, the next day he went
to the post office. He wrote a letter to God to send him one hundred
pesos. He dropped the letter into the mail-box. When the postman
saw this letter, he took it to the postmaster. He broke out laughing.
But he became serious. He was impressed by Lencho's faith in
God. He collected money from all. He could collect only seventy
pesos. He mailed this money to Lencho.

Q. 8. How did the hailstorm affect Lencho's fields? What
was Lencho's only hope?
Or, How was Lencho's crop destroyed? How did he ask
God for help?
Ans. Lencho was a hard working farmer. He depended
completely on his fields for his living. He expected a rich harvest
that year. Only a little rain was needed for the crop to ripen. But it
rained heavily. It was followed by hailstorm. The crop was
completely destroyed. It was a great blow to Lencho. He lived
there alone with his family. There was nobody to help him. He
feared that his family would starve without food. Also he had no
seed for the next harvest.
But, Lencho believed firmly that nobody died of hunger.
But he had one hope. It was help from God. With this belief he
wrote a letter to God. He asked for a hundred pesos as help.

Q. 9. How did the post office employees help Lencho? How
did Lencho react to their help?                        [JAC 2014 (A)]
Ans. The postman took Lencho's letter to the postmaster. He
burst out laughing. But he became serious. He was impressed by
Lencho's faith in God. He decided to help Lencho. So, he asked
the post office employees to contribute money. He also asked his
friends to give money. He collected about seventy pesos only. He
sent that money to Lencho by mail.
Lencho received the money. But he was not surprised. He
was angry. He was certain that God couldn't have made a mistake.
He thought that someone in the post office lud taken away the
thirty pesos. So, he wrote another letter to God Hoocked Him to
send thirty pesos not through the post office, because the
employees were crooks.

Q.10. Lencho, a hard-working farmer faces ruin. He turns
to God in distress. Give examples to prove that he has a
tremendous faith in God.
Ans. Lencho was really a hard working farmer. His earth
needed water. He saw clouds in the sky. He told his wife that it
would rain. Soon it started raining and hailing His crop was
destroyed by hailstorm. Lencho feared that his family would starvo.
But he had a tremendous faith in God. He was sure that no one dies
of hunger as God's eyes see everything. He believed that God saw
even what is deep in one's conscience. Naturally, he had this single
hope: from God. So next morning, he wrote a letter to God.
His second letter confirms his great belief. In a way. God's help
comes to him, though through the post office people.

Q. 11. Why did Lencho write a letter to God? What was the
result of Lencho's letter?
Or, Why did Lencho seek the help of God? How did he do it
Ans. Lencho was a very hard working man. He was completely
dependent on cultivation and his cultivation was fully dependent
on the downpour. Once with rain, very heavy hail-stones fell and
destroyed his corns completely. He became very sad. He could
not see any ray of hope. But he had great belief in God's help. He
believed that God would not let anybody die of hunger. Hence he
decided to write a letter to God for a noble help of one hundred
pesos.
The postmaster saw the letter addressed to God. He was
impressed by Lencho's faith in God. He did not want to shake
Lencho's faith. He with other postoffice employees, collected
seventy pesos. He posted the collected money to Lencho.

Q. 12. How did the post office employees help Lencho?
How did Lencho react to their help?
Or, What had the post office employees done for Lencho?
Why did he call them a bunch of crooks?
Or, (i) Why did the postmaster need to answer the letter?
(ii) How did he collect it. (iii) How did Lencho react to their
help?
Ans. When the post office employees received the letter
written to God, they first burst into laughter. Then the postmaster
decided to answer this letter. He asked for money from his
employees. He also asked his friends to contribute money as an
act of charity. He himself gave a part of his salary. In this way he
sent an envelope to Leneho with a signature "God".
When Lencho received the envelope with signature of God,
he became delighted. He happily opened the envelope and
counted the money. It was only seventy pesos, a less of thirty
pesos. Lencho became furious and decided to write again to God
for the rest amount but not through the mail. Because he believed
that post office employees were a bunch of crooks.

Q. 13. What did Lencho have faith in? What did he do?
Or What did Lencho write to God? How did he send the
letter?
Ans. Lencho's had complete faith in God. His crop had been
destroyed. He wrote in his letter to God that if He did not help him.
his family would go hungry for that year. He demanded for hundred
pesos so that he could sow his field again and live until the new
crop come.
He wrote "To God" on the envelope. He placed a stamp on it
and dropped it into the mailbox of the post-office.

Q.14. Who read Lencho's letter? What did he do then ?
Ans. The postmaster read Lencho's letter. The letter was
addressed to God. All that was written in the letter reflected
Lencho's deep faith in God. The postmaster did not want to break
Lencho's faith in God. So he decided to send money to Lencho.
He needed to collect money from other post office employees.
They agreed to contribute some money because it was for a
charitable cause.

Q.15. What did the postmaster do after reading the letter?
Or, Why does the postmaster send money to Lencho? Why
does he sign the letter 'God'?
Ans. The postmaster sent money to Lencho because he was
deeply impressed by the faith of Lencho in God. So, in order not
to shake his faith in God, the Postmaster decided to fulfil Lencho's
desire of God's help at the time of his adversity. He asked his
employees to donate in a noble cause : he himself gave part of his
salary. It was, indeed, an act of charity, so his friends also gave
some money for Lencho, but only a little more than half could be
collected. He put the money in an envelope addressed to Lencho
and with it a letter containing only a single word as a signature :
God.

Q. 16. How do you think the postmaster felt when he received
Lencho's second letter? What do you think he did?
Ans. After reading Lencho's second letter, the postmaster
must have felt hurt to read that the post office employees are a
bunch of crooks'. In fact, he had done an act of charity and all the
post office employees had contributed to this noble cause. The
post office employees had helped the needy farmer and saved his
family from starvation. Instead of answering his second letter the
postmaster would have called him and told him the whole
situation. He would have made Lencho realize that God had helped
him through them. By doing so, he could have changed Lencho's
opinion about the post office employees.
